Home Organizing Made Easy

Your Action Plan for Decluttering the Home:
1. Pick the room you plan to work on.
2. Go into the room and clear out a work space. It could be in the corner or in the middle of the room. Clear this area out and get ready to get to work.
3. Start with drawers. Take out one drawer at a time. Empty the drawer in your work area and start sorting.
4. Sort the things you use and need on a daily basis and put them in one pile. Separate garbage and things that can be thrown out in another pile. Finally sort things to give away or sell and put them in a third pile.
5. Put the things you’re keeping back into the drawer and bag/box up the others into garbage bags or storage bins.
6. Repeat the process on every drawer, shelf and closet in the room.
7. Take out the items you’re trashing and keep the rest in bins. Either list the bins on an online auction or send them to the local charitable organization.
This simple, 7 step plan, is a brutally efficient way to organize any and every room in your home. You’ll find that it gets easier with each room that you work on. Put your weekends and spare time to good use and implement this plan in every room. Within a month or two, you’ll notice that your home is less cluttered, more organized and easier to live in. You can rid yourself of clutter.
Phase Two
Once you’ve carried out this plan in every room, start to implement a new system to stay organized. You don’t want to get a few months down the road only to find that your home is cluttered up again. To avoid this from happening, make sure that everything stays in its own place. Resist the urge to buy new things, unless you absolutely need them. And to really stay organized vow to only bring in something new if you get rid of two things of the same size. That means if you buy a new outfit, find two that you can give to charity.
If you successfully follow both phases of this plan on how to declutter your home, you’ll soon be in the habit of staying organized for life.
